Education Pilot - Duxbury - 5th Grade

As an initial pilot into the world of education, we were honored to share our knowledge with two of the 5th grade classes at Alden Elementary School in Duxbury. This was an approximately 30 minute visit with an introduction, a 12 minute video on the local Duxbury waters, followed by a Q&A session with the students. The presentation reached approximately 40 students who were engaged by the sight of animals both familiar and unexpected tied to the areas of Duxbury they knew so well — Duxbury Beach, Powder Point Bridge, Clark’s Island, Saquish and Gurnet Point. During the Q&A session the students were engaged and asking many excellent questions and enjoyed being able to look over one of our cameras and related equipment!

Going forward, we are planning on presenting a similar pilot to the entire 5th grade next year during their Ocean Sciences section, as well as exploring options to expand the program to other schools as well as other grade levels.
